Alert Center Anchor/Multimedia Journalist
Lexi Spivak is an Emmy nominated journalist who is currently the Alert Center Anchor and Multimedia Journalist for the Ozarks Today newscast on KY3 and KSPR News.
Spivak started working for KY3 and KSPR News in December of 2016. She has since been nominated for her work covering the tragic Duck Boat crash on Table Rock Lake in the summer of 2018.
Before her time at KY3 and KSPR News, she started her broadcast career in Spokane, Washington as the Morning Producer & Coordinator and Morning Traffic Reporter for KREM 2 News.
As Morning Producer & Coordinator, Lexi scheduled guests from the community to come on her show each day. This included everything from elected officials, law enforcement personnel, charity representatives, and the occasional famous act rolling through town. While producing in the control room, she would also track local traffic conditions and report them to viewers.
While attending the University of Missouri, Lexi was a member and captain of the University of Missouri Women's Swim and Dive Team from 2010 to 2014. She graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism. She reported, anchored, and produced for KOMU 8 News during her time in Columbia.
Lexi still loves to swim when she is not in the newsroom. She also enjoys the outdoors and any activities she can do with her dog, Truman. She loves spending her spare time with her parents, Joe and Shari, and her siblings.
While writing about why she loves morning news, she explained she brings a part of her childhood into the newscast every day.
"When we woke up every morning as kids, my father always said we needed three things before walking out the door... attitude, character, and enthusiasm. It is these three words that I live my life by." She also went on to write how in their household they would have a daily 'smile-check' session before getting on the school bus.
She wrote, "I work to give our viewers the information they need to go out into the world and make intelligent, informed decisions on their own. I want them to be able to participate in conversations while understanding every angle of an issue." "I also want them to have a smile on their face and the tenacity to get after the day, just as my father and mother always taught me," she wrote.
