CAMDENTON, Mo. (KY3) - The Camden County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide south of Camdenton.

Deputies responded on Thursday after receiving a 911 call about an unresponsive man in a home. Deputies found 62-year-old Thomas E. Gifford, dead on the floor of the residence.

According to autopsy results, the manner of death has been ruled a homicide.

“Communications got a call from a gentleman who said that his friend was lying on the ground or the for lying on the floor in his living room and was unresponsive,” said Sgt. Scott Hines.

Sgt. Hines says the investigation determined the death is suspicious. He says detectives have been actively working on the investigation.

“We’ve got several members of our patrol division who are out looking, trying to locate some persons of interest, not necessarily suspects, but persons who may have had contact with the deceased recently. So they’re in the process of doing that. Our detective bureau is currently cataloging evidence that we seized from the scene last night and putting all that in the appropriate container so that it can be later used for lab analysis and then court purposes,” said Sgt. Hines.

No arrests have been made.
