FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Rain Ends Tonight
Light snow possible Friday
Rain continues over the Ozarks this afternoon but is set to become showery by evening. Already several inches of rain have fallen creating some local flooding. Remember if you encounter a flooded road Turn Around Don’t Drown.
The rain will come to an end tonight however it could be mixed with wet snow for a few hours. I do not expect any accumulation. A strong west wind will kick up tonight and gust over 30 mph. Temperatures by morning will settle to the mid 30s.
Thursday begins cloudy but some sunshine is possible as today’s storm moves into the Ohio Valley. Temperatures should respond nicely and warm to the low 50s.
A cold front drops into the Ozarks early Friday. Cold air will pile into the area on breezy north winds. Light snow is possible and we have issued a First Alert for minor accumulations and some minor icing. I am not sold on this scenario just yet as the snow will arrive during the day and temperatures should be in the mid 30s.
Impacts to roads should be very limited with the exception of bridges and overpasses. If there is to be accumulating snow it looks to be in the southern half of the viewing area. Grassy areas and shady spots are most favored to see some snow.
The weekend is looking nice. Sunshine is forecast both days. Saturday should see a high temperature of 48 after a morning start around 20. Sunday looks much nicer with a high in the upper 50s. Sunday will also feature a gusty southwest wind.
Clouds will increase on Monday as the next storm begins to take shape. Temperatures will reach the mid 50s. The next big storm arrives next Tuesday. It will look much like the present storm with moderate to heavy rain and localized flooding.
