Good morning and happy Sunday! It’s another chilly start to the day with temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s and skies are mostly cloudy to overcast. A weak disturbance sits to our south and may create a few isolated showers and flurries this morning, but that activity will remain south of Springfield and mostly in North Arkansas.

The rest of the day will remain dry for most and cloudy with highs a few degrees warmer than yesterday. If there’s enough moisture, a few isolated showers may squeeze out this afternoon to the south. Most areas will hit the mid 40s, the warmest nearing 50. The clouds tonight into tomorrow and a south wind will keep lows a little warmer in the mid to upper 30s.

The warming trend continues Monday with highs in the low to mid 50s with a chance for widely scattered showers primarily south of Highway 60. Many areas will remain dry, and clouds will be lingering and increasing. Higher rain chances are in store for late Monday night and through the rest of the week. This is all thanks to a stalled front and moisture moving in from the south.

The heaviest and most widespread rain will likely occur Wednesday and Thursday, with the activity leveling off a bit Friday afternoon. Then another wave of moisture is forecast to push in next weekend, increasing rain chances again. Rainfall amounts will likely top an inch for most of the Ozarks with the highest amounts to the south in North Arkansas.

Even though it’s a little far out to know exact details at this time, next weekend is looking quite soggy with heavy rain forecast for Saturday, tapering off into Sunday. I’m hoping something changes between now and then, as it is the Springfield Christmas Parade, but we’ll keep you updated on any and all changes.
