SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Deputies from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office stopped an impaired driver Friday night in a pursuit that ended near downtown Springfield.

Four people were taken into custody following the pursuit. Authorities say the driver had warrants out for his arrest and will be charged for DWI.

The pursuit began around 10 p.m. just north of Springfield. The driver led law enforcement down Kansas Expressway and other roads before the pursuit ended near Tampa Street and Grant Avenue. Deputies used stop sticks once they noticed the driver was impaired.

Authorities say there were four people in the suspect vehicle, a black Chevy truck. One passenger jumped out during the pursuit, but was not hurt. Another passenger is believed to be a missing person.

The driver was a man in his 30s and impaired, but authorities did not confirm whether that was from drugs or alcohol.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation, but was helped by Springfield police during the pursuit.
